Nvidia and Dell have partnered to launch a comprehensive on-premises AI solution, Project Helix, which is designed to help organizations accelerate their artificial intelligence efforts. By utilizing this solution, businesses and individuals will be able to access and run AI workloads on high-performance, secure systems from on-site.

The hardware and software stack of Project Helix consists of Dell Ready Solutions with PowerEdge R740 Server, Nvidia DGX-2 systems equipped with V100 GPUs and V100 Tensor Core GPUs, and other partner technologies from Nvidia software and service partners. This joint solution will provide users with a secure, integrated environment in which to develop, test, deploy and scale AI applications with performance, flexibility and scalability.

Nvidia has already released its Kubernetes-based software stack for AI deployment and training on the Dell infrastructure. This software stack includes Nvidia’s Kubernetes Engine (NKE), Kubernetes-native software development kit (SDK), runtime libraries, and conversational AI framework. Additionally, the stack also consists of components from partners such as Red Hat, CoreOS, and and Kubeflow.

The combination of Dell hardware and Nvidia software will enable users to quickly develop and deploy enterprise-critical AI applications that require the most powerful and secure computing platforms. Project Helix also includes support for popular open-source and commercial AI frameworks from Nvidia and other partners, including TensorFlow, MXNet, Caffe2, Theano and CNTK.

With an integrated and secure environment for AI deployment, Project Helix will make it easier for companies to develop and deploy AI applications on an on-premises infrastructure that is designed for the most demanding use cases. For instance, all the software components of the solution can run on the same machine, which allows for faster and more efficient deployment and scaling.

This initiative from Dell and Nvidia is a significant example of the co-innovation that can occur when large partners come together to confront a specific use case. Project Helix provides an effective and secure platform for companies to deploy their AI applications.
