Nvidia, the popular American technology company known for its graphics processing units (GPUs), announced today their intention to Redefine the future of computing with the release of their first Arm-based supercomputer processor, Grace Hopper.

Named after pioneering female computer scientist and Rear Admiral Grace Hopper, Grace Hopper will be the world’s most powerful Arm-based CPU, set to revolutionize computing with its large 128 AI cores and second-generation NVLink high-speed processor interconnect architecture. Nvidia claims that Grace Hopper will provide an unprecedented level of performance and power efficiency when compared to other Arm-based solutions.

Designed by Nvidia’s AI researchers, Grace Hopper boasts the fastest single-precision floating-point compute performance of any Arm-based CPU, enabling its users to more easily explore complex Deep Neural Networks (DNNs). With Grace Hopper, Nvidia promises faster, more precise AI training and inference operations for data centers and networks.

These advances have huge implications for the world of AI research, with Nvidia expecting Grace Hopper to make propelling AI advancements easier than ever. Due to its incredible power and efficiency, Grace Hopper is expected to become the processor of choice for next-generation AI applications from natural language processing (NLP) to machine vision.

In a statement from CEO Jensen Huang, Nvidia said “Grace Hopper marks a historic moment in computing innovation. For the first time ever, the combination of Arm-s high-performance CPUs and Nvidia’s world-class GPUs and AI acceleration technologies will be available on a single system.”

With Grace Hopper on the horizon, the possibilities for AI research and development look brighter than ever. Nvidia has promised prolific performance with full cooperation between the hardware and software, allowing users to quickly train and deploy applications, and work according to their designs. The potential is endless for those able to leverage the full power of Grace Hopper.
