Wilson Aerospace, a Colorado-based company, has filed a lawsuit against Boeing for allegedly stealing its intellectual property. The tool in question is the Fluid Fitting Torque Device-3, which Wilson developed and Boeing claimed it needed to attach four main engines to the Space Launch System rocket. The lawsuit was filed in US District Court in Seattle, where Boeing was originally based. According to the lawsuit, Boeing reached out to Wilson in March 2014 after learning about the special torque device. Wilson claims that Boeing wanted to use its torque device because it could operate in tight spaces and provide the force and precision needed. However, Wilson alleges that Boeing deceived them by arranging a “live” demonstration of the torque device, during which some of the participants were not Boeing employees but were instead employees of Wilson’s direct competitors. Wilson claims that Boeing subsequently used information from this demonstration, as well as proprietary drawings and designs, to work with Wilson’s competitors to develop a cheaper solution. Wilson Aerospace seeks a jury trial and punitive damages for what it claims as theft of its property and hopes to deter such conduct in the future.
On June 4th, the US aerospace company, Boeing, is facing a lawsuit from another company, Eelson Precision Products Corporation. The lawsuit was filed against Boeing for allegedly stealing trade secrets related to tools and tooling used in the Space Launch System Rocket that Boeing is working on with NASA.
According to Eelson, Boeing has been using their tools without approval and has refused to pay for them. Additionally, the lawsuit claims that Boeing has not intended to pay for the tools and has acted in an “unfair and unlawful” way in order to get the tools.
The chairman of Eelson, Ami Har-Even, stated that, “Boeing’s actions are unacceptable and the company needs to be held accountable for their actions. It is unfair to steal another company’s property and deprive them of the choice to remain competitive and secure a good return for their services and products.”
Furthermore, the lawsuit seeks to not only obtain compensation from Boeing, but also to display the importance of protecting the intellectual property of small businesses. It promotes the importance of fair competition in the market and serves to ensure that larger companies are held accountable for their actions.
This is not the first time Boeing has had to face legal action. The company has been involved in a variety of scandals, including not paying taxes and employing unethical practices while conducting business.
In response to the allegations, a Boeing spokeswoman has stated that the company is committed to behaving ethically and complying with all applicable laws and regulations. Still, this lawsuit serves to highlight the importance of maintaining law and order in business and the need for companies to act responsibly.
